In 2010 I will…

Ah! Another year over and onto the next one. For me, January 1st always brings a feeling of anticipation and excitement.  Will this year be awesome? What will I accomplish?  Where will I be 365 days from now? Of course, it’s not fun to know the answers to those questions, but I’ve always thought that it’s good to set some goals for the new year (whether they’re big or small).

I’ve created a “Resolution Generator” – a collection of goals contributed by family and friends and from various sources on the world wide web. Clicking the “gimme more” button generates random goals from the overall collection.

new year

new years

new years

If you’d like to contribute some of your goals, please feel free to message me. I’d love to hear from you!!

- feel the tingle in my heart
- submit something to an anonymous-confession project
- write a song
- doodle an original imaginary creature
- try to complete a task before the thing in the microwave’s done heating
- play patty cake
- blow bubbles while washing dishes
- write in a journal
- take the bluetooth off your ear when you’re not using it
- sleep with a stuffed animal
- step into other people’s shoes… literally
- submit a new year’s resolution to this generator

- do it.

i have plenty more, but i don’t know how many i should limit myself to before you realize i’m a little creative in the brain, hahaha.

Dipi ( January 5, 2010 at 3:20 am )

Well, thank you. These were a useful catalyst in my finally making a few resolutions (after many recent years of fruitless attempts). Have you seen book(s) on “brainstorming.” Like books on businesses one can start from home or businesses which a child can operate … the brainstorming book(s) might be packed with “idea starters.” [At least with good rules for generating ideas, solo or in a group.] You seem to have the knack for helping people in this regard. Maybe you could expand to other fields: For photo enthusiasts: “Pictures I want to take.”

For fishermen (women): “Fish I want to catch.” Or “places I want to fish.”

For runners, “Marathons I want to run.” [Most runners already have a list, though.] Or “5K Races I want to run.”

Try “Cars I want to drive / own” or “airplanes I want to ride in” (with tips on where to do that). Well, one must consider demand … and, somewhat, the number of suggestions available … and, of course, authenticity (to a fair extent … and publish caveats or disclaimers).

This would be good: ” Scenic railways to ride on.” Or “Railroad museums to visit.” (There are many! I am a commercial driver … and know there are many (and have visited three or four (Kansas, Missouri, Ohio (not a full museum), and Tennessee (Jackson — the Casey Jones Museum). I pick up brochures for scenic railroads and have ridden two (including a dandy one from Laramie, Wyoming which is now torn out).

Quiting books or quilts to see or make.

Collections to start and develop.

Places that might accept your donation of a collection …

Etc. Or publish a little book(let) of suggestions that others could follow — such as your “Resolution Starter” or my notions above. You may use my suggestions if you like. (I don’t need credit, but they are original.)

Regards!
